Description

Physical therapists are licensed doctors who examine, diagnose, and treat movement dysfunction. Physical therapists work with multiple patient populations and people impacted by disease, injury, disability, and movement dysfunction. They optimize quality of life by maintaining, restoring, and improving their patients' ability to move and perform functional activities (APTA). 

Typical Majors

  • Biology BS (Cell and Molecular) or BA 
  • Exercise Science BS 
  • Psychology BS (Natural Science or Health Studies)
  • Public Health BS

Clinical Exposure

Most PT programs require a certain number of hours in a clinical setting for admission to their program. This experience needs to encompass the depth of the profession through exposure in various PT settings.
