Celeste Crowe has served as Director of Health Professions Advising since the office’s inception in 2007. Prior to her arrival at Appalachian, Celeste served as Assistant Director of Pre-Health Outreach Programs at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine. She began working with pre-health students while in graduate school working as a program assistant in the ETSU Pre-Health Outreach Programs Office. In addition, Celeste has worked with TRiO grant programs at ETSU, Union College (KY), and Tusculum College (TN). Celeste earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Masters of Science in Biology, with an emphasis in Molecular Biology, from ETSU.
Since March 2007, she has assisted over 250 Appalachian students and alumni in gaining admission to their health professions program of choice. Appalachian students are in health professions programs across the state, region, and nation. Celeste is also active in the Health Professions Advisors of North Carolina (HPANC), Southern Association of Advisors of Health Professions (SAAHP), and National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP).
Currently serving as SAAHP past-president, Celeste has served as SAAHP President from 2013-2015, 2013 Louisville Meeting Program Chair, and SAAHP representative to the NAAHP BOD from 2011-2013. She is co-chair for the 2018 NAAHP National Meeting Program Planning Team and has served on the 2016 and 2014 NAAHP National Planning Teams.
In her spare time, Celeste is active in her local church, enjoys cheering on the Mountaineers, and being active by dancing, pilates, and zumba.
