Athletic Training

Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied health care profession (source: NATA)

  • Exercise Science BS

  • Psychology BS (Natural Science or Health Studies)

Clinical Exposure

Most AT programs require some level of observation with licensed ATs to be competitive for their program.  The number of hours can vary by program.

Appalachian's program requires a minimum of 40 hours of observation with licensed ATs to be a competitive applicant for their program.
